The Massage from the beggars
The Stupa called the Kirivehera in Katharagama is one of the most attracted stupa’s in Sri Lanka. Kataragama is well-known because of this stupa and the divine being called Load Skandha Kumara. I used to visit the Kirivehera every year. This place encourages me in my practice of meditation. The environment around this stupa, helps me to develop and maintain my internal peace.
On the 07th of December 2007, we visited the Kirivehera. We had a good time with our meditation. Usually my heart asks me to share some money with the people who need our support. Fulfilling this request, we enjoyed offering our contributions.
We got the opportunity to talk with some of the beggars. Yes, it is true that it is difficult to make them happy. But they have a massage. They say they get what they want, but there is no contentment in their hearts, because there is no intention in their hearts to train their mind to say ‘enough’.
So it is clear that one, who desires to be rich, should train their mind, to say enough, when the need has arisen, to the point of satisfaction and contentment.
